Aston Martin DB4

A museum piece lovingly restored and returned to running condition by Haynes Heritage Engineering.

Originally purchased at auction and donated to Haynes Motor Museum by John Haynes OBE and his wife, Annette, this 1961 Aston Martin DB4 remained on static display for over two decades.

Before being acquired by John Haynes, the DB4 was written off in its first year of use and subsequently involved in several minor incidents. As a result, it required significant structural repairs.

These included the careful reconstruction of the front section and the correction of historic repair work, with every step prioritising the car’s originality and historical integrity.

The car has been returned to its original Dubonnet Red paintwork, the exact shade in which it was finished when built in 1961.

The restoration involved more than 200 hours of hand metalwork, around 300 hours in the paintshop, a full engine rebuild and the reinstallation of the original Fawn leather interior, bringing the car back to its former glory.

The DB4 can now be seen at Haynes Motor Museum and occasionally appears at outdoor events.
