Purchased blind at auction, this 1933 MG J2 arrived at Haynes Heritage Engineering for a comprehensive vehicle health check to assess its condition and identify the work needed to get it back on the road.

Our inspection revealed issues with the braking system, including leaking seals and hub gaskets that had allowed contamination to build up inside the brake drums. We carried out the necessary brake repairs and a full rebuild, machining the drums on the lathe to restore them.

Further work has involved specialist fabrication and modifications, including a custom steering bracket, exhaust system and bespoke battery tray.

The project has now progressed to its next major stage, with the engine removed and sent to a specialist for a full rebuild. Once complete, we can continue with the next stages of work to bring this pre-war MG back to the road.
